Introduction to Gender Reveal Roulette
What is Gender Reveal Roulette?
Gender Reveal Roulette is a simple and fun way to reveal the gender of your baby. It’s a great way to get everyone in the family involved in the gender reveal.
Story behind the project
My wife and I are expecting our first child in June. We are having a gender reveal party for our friends and family.
We wanted to do something different and fun for the gender reveal. We were looking for a way to make the gender reveal more interactive and fun for the guests.
A couple years ago my wife and I watched Netflix’s reboot of The Mole
.
When it’s time for someone to be eliminated, the players answer a series of questions about the mole.
The player with the least amount of correct answers is eliminated. And they do this by playing a game of roulette.
Each player is holding a phone, when it is their turn they tap their screen which shows red if they are eliminated, or green if they are safe.
When my wife and I were trying to figure out what we wanted to do for our gender reveal, we thought this would be a fun way to do it.
Plus, I wanted an excuse to build something people would actually use.
How does it work?
One person that already knows the gender starts a online roulette room for the other players to join.
Once the room is created, the host sends a link to the other players.
After all players have joined, the host starts the roulette.
Players are randomly (or not so randomly) assigned a turn, and one person is randomly (or not so randomly) assigned to reveal the gender of the baby.
One by one, each player taps their screen to take their turn. Their screen will either turn black meaning they were not the one to reveal the gender, or it will show pink/blue revealing the gender of the baby.
If the player is not the one to reveal, it moves to the next player. This will continue until all players have had a turn.
